I thought I’d create a new feature on here where once a month I’ll gladly discuss new beauty trends/products/videos etc. that I’ve come across and/or tested, and want to share with you! (Note: These are my personal preferences and the companies/brands have not sponsored me in any way to talk about them).
Whilst procrastinating on Instagram (we all do it!), I stumbled across a skincare brand called “YLLO” (pronounced like the colour yellow). YLLO Beauty stood out to me as firstly it’s a skincare product incorporating turmeric, a traditional Asian ingredient in which I had no idea was being promoted in the beauty world! This skincare product may be great for your skin BUT the concept that captivated me the most was that “YLLO seeks to solve complicated problems with ingredient you can feel good about, while helping girls be girls”.
You rarely hear about companies/brands who want to create a product and actually want to help people who need it the most. As a young optimistic individual who has a passion to tackle environmental/social issues we are currently facing in the world, it was fantastic to know that YLLO donate 10% of their profits to organisations that help end child marriage. In India alone, around 47% of girls are married before their 18th birthday. As a young woman, it is difficult to hear this horrible truth that often isn’t talked about. We’ve reached an era where it is NOT okay for girls to be treated this way anymore. Girls are far too special to get married as they are GIRLS, not women. They should feel empowered and understand that their goals can be achieved, no matter how big they are.
Knowing the positive difference buying a skincare brand can make makes me look forward to test out the YLLO products (once I figure out international shipping prices!). And hopefully I’ll give a review on them!
